Our Foundation in Innovation

Community Expert Solutions emerged from groundbreaking work that redefined community engagement in clinical research. Our origins trace to Dr. Allison Mathews' visionary 2BeatHIV project, a pioneering NIH-funded initiative (R01 NIAID grant) that proved community-centered approaches could revolutionize clinical research participation.

Research Excellence (2015-2019): Dr. Mathews launched the 2BeatHIV project at UNC Chapel Hill, using innovative crowdsourcing methodologies to develop community-driven solutions for HIV cure research. This work established the evidence-based protocols that now drive our success across multiple therapeutic areas.

Policy Impact & Recognition: Our community engagement model gained official recognition through government proclamations and policy influence. Dr. Mathews co-founded HIV Cure Research Day (Dec 14), officially proclaimed by Durham County and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. Dr. Mathews has hosted several events at the Governor’s Executive Mansion, including the state's inaugural World AIDS Day. She has also collaborated with international colleagues in China and South Africa, including being invited to develop the international Good Participatory Practice guidelines for TB/HIV clinical research in Sub-Saharan Africa with AVAC, Inc.
